Nicholas Mukhtar is a trailblazer in public health and business consulting. He is known for his transformative work, starting from his roots in Detroit, Michigan, and influencing policies and businesses across the United States. He founded the notable nonprofit Healthy Detroit, which spearheaded significant public health initiatives in the community. Today, he is a sought-after consultant who advises on business operations and strategic development.


Nicholas embarked on his higher education journey at the University of Dayton as a Chaminade Scholar, later transferring to Wayne State University, where he completed his undergraduate studies in 2013. His drive to contribute significantly to public health led him to Johns Hopkins University, where he acquired dual master's degrees in Public Policy and Public Health in 2017.


During his undergraduate years in 2012, Nicholas recognized a dire need for better public health infrastructure in Detroit. Motivated by this gap, he established Healthy Detroit, aiming to elevate community health through innovative and effective interventions. Under his leadership, the organization secured funding exceeding $100 million, facilitating impactful health programs across Detroit. By 2017, the nonprofit managed an impressive annual budget of $15 million.


With a desire to extend his influence beyond local community health, Nicholas founded Healthy Communities in 2017, a public policy consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. This enterprise offered strategic insights to significant political leaders, including Speaker Paul Ryan and Senators Rand Paul and Tim Scott, enhancing public health policies at national and state levels.


Additionally, Nicholas established Tera Strategies in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he offers his expertise to enhance business strategies and operations for various clients, from family offices to multinational corporations.


Nicholas's comprehensive leadership and strategic skills are well-recognized across several sectors, including public health, wealth management, and business consulting. His linguistic abilities in English, Arabic, and Spanish enable him to communicate effectively with a diverse client base, further enriching his consultancy practice.


His commitment and leadership have garnered multiple recognitions. He was featured in the 2014 Surgeon General’s Report to the President and Congress and named the 2015 Playmakers Changemaker of the Year. In 2017, Healthy Detroit received the prestigious National Public Health Organization of the Year award from the American Public Health Association. His Bloomberg Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University also recognizes his academic and professional excellence.


Nicholas also contributes his expertise to several boards, including the Men's Health Foundation and Trinity Health System in Livonia, Michigan. He chaired the Detroit Parks & Recreation Commission and actively participates in the Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance.


Nicholas Thaier Mukhtar resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with his fiancée Alexandra, affectionately known as Lexi. The couple, deeply involved in charitable work, are planning their wedding for April, demonstrating their commitment to combining their lives with a shared passion for philanthropy and community improvement.
